Regular Observation Session – March 17

Hi all!

Our next stargazing session will be held this Friday, 17 March at 7:30pm at NUS Engineering Bridge. Weather permitting, you’ll have the chance to look at the winter constellations, as well as the myriad of objects within them.

Additionally, we will be having talks/activities related to the topics on the solar system, as well as astrophotography without the need for a telescope.

Regular Observation Session – 28th October

Dear Astronomers!

We will be having our final internal observation session on Friday, 28th of October at the NUS Engineering Bridge from 7:30pm onwards.
We will be setting up telescopes for viewing. If weather permits, you will be able to see Mars, Saturn, as well as a variety of star clusters, nebulae and deep sky objects.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Bonus: There will also be a talk on astrobiology and the scientific search for life elsewhere in the Universe!

Looking for a short getaway from Singapore’s excessively light polluted night sky?
AstroBash is back here once again!!!
This time we are headed for A Famosa, Malacca from 2nd Dec to 5th Dec! Join us at this trip as we visit the Al-Khawarizmi Observatory and go on day tour in malacca city. In addition, you’ll get to learn so much more about the night sky. See you there!

Regular Observation Session

Dear Astronomers!

We will be having our observation session on Friday, 30th of September at the NUS Engineering Bridge from 7:30pm onwards. (See attached map)
As a highlight of the session, we will be having a talk on visual astronomy by a guest speaker, Mr Junwei Pan, who is a veteran in the local Astronomy scene for over a decade. He will be sharing the various methods used in visual observation, as well as the wonders of what can be seen with your very eyes through optical instruments in both Singapore and abroad.
As per our usual sessions, we will be setting up telescopes for viewing. If weather permits, you will be able to see Mars, Saturn, as well as a variety of star clusters, nebulae and deep sky objects.

Mid Autumn Festival Celebrations 2016

Hello astronomers!

We will be having our Mid Autumn Festival Celebrations this coming Thursday, 15th of September, at the NUS Engineering Bridge! (see map) The event will begin at 7:30pm.
Join us for an evening of stargazing, mooncakes, games, and talks on the moon! In the event of unfavourable weather, we will proceed to the YIH student lounge.

AstroBash XXXVIII: Registration closes on 22nd April (Max Capacity reached)

Hello Astronomers!

Looking for a place to relax after the semester ends? Fret no more! AstroBash is here once again for the summer! This time we are heading for Simfoni Resort, Langkawi. Join us at this trip as we visit the Langkawi National Observatory and go on island hopping. Not to forget the experience to escape Singapore’s excessively light polluted night sky to a better night sky for astronomy.

Here are the details:
Date: 10th – 13th May 2016
Venue: Langkawi, Malaysia
Price : $290 for members and past AstroBash Participants
$320 for non-members
$10 discount for each pax that signs up as group of 4

Price is inclusive of accommodation (including room taxes and surcharges), internal transport, day tours, two-way flights and some meals!


Due to an overwhelming response for Astrobash 38, however, we have reached our maximum capacity for this trip. Please note that we will currently be placing all additional sign-ups on waiting list. The registration survey will still be open until the 22nd April deadline if you wish to include your name in the waiting list.

The organising committee has decided to formally introduce a CLOSING DATE FOR REGISTRATION after taking into consideration of possible changes in ticket prices. SIGN UP AND MAKE PAYMENT BEFORE 22nd April to secure the stated price and your place for AstroBash XXXVIII!
